BEING THOROUGHLY INDULGENT

It's been a while since I popped in here with things that inspire and indulge me and this post you will find is thoroughly indulgent and prompted by a friend completing the same exercise.

We seem to be overwhelmed at the moment with births and birthdays and so Lynne got to thinking of her birthday and posted beautifully in her blog about her special day:

Visit her page and learn about her special day.

So, it got me thinking too about the year of my birth and the people who share that year/date and events.  I have spent a while researching information for this very indulgent posting so sit tight and enjoy the ride with me ........we go waaaaay back to 1947

It was funny when researching this that I found a popular song for 1947:
be sure to listen to "Linda."

Sunday morning 7.30.a.m. I was born at  my Grandfather's home (in my grandfather's bed to be precise) while my father was out on his bike looking for the mid-wife.   I was delivered by a family friend who became my Godmother.

I was born at Bidston (Near Birkenhead Cheshire) and this is the view from the window of the room where I was born.

This is Bidston Hill and the photo below is of the Observatory built to guide ships travelling the River Mersey, and also on Bidston Hill.

This is the Bluebell Woods where I spent many happy hours as a child picking bluebells.

When I was five we moved from Bidston to Woodchurch and I attended school there which was an Annexe of this Church built in 1663

I loved it here and spent lots of time in the graveyard tidying neglected graves and playing around them.

There were lots of happy times there and I of course did all the things that girls did in those days - I rode a bike, visited the Library, joined Girl Guides
and went horse riding.

We lived near Arrowe Park which was a delightful place to play - gardens, swings, bowling greens, golf course etc etc.

the Park just as I remember it.

The Hotel on the corner

The Commonfield Surgery - doctor's rooms five doors from where I lived.
They were 156 and we were 146.

This is how I spent as many hours as I could and it was still not enough - this is not me or my riding school but so similar.

My days were happy and contented and in March 1961 we left Tilbury Docks (London) aboard the T.S.S. STRATHAIRD. (P.& O.Lines)

"Bound for South Australia."

Enough of my indulgence I shall share with you some of the things that happened in 1947 (apart from my birth.)

I was born in the Chinese year of

And some of the books released were:

My celtic tree is the Vine

September 2 – September 29
Vine signs are born within the autumnal equinox, which makes your personality changeable and unpredictable. You can be full of contradictions, and are often indecisive. But this is because you can see both sides of the story, and empathize with each equally. It is hard for you to pick sides because you can see the good points on each end. There are, however, areas in your life that you are quite sure about. These include the finer things of life like food, wine, music, and art. You have very distinctive taste, and are a connoisseur of refinement. Luxury agrees with you, and under good conditions you have a Midas touch for turning drab into dramatic beauty. You are charming, elegant, and maintain a level of class that wins you esteem from a large fan base. Indeed, you often find yourself in public places where others can admire your classic style and poise. Vine signs pair well with Willow and Hazel signs.

and my animal is the swan

September 2 - September 29
Spiritually evolved, and eloquent in expressing themselves, the swan swims in a class of their own. They have high standards, infinitely discriminating tastes and they have a keen eye for beauty (even when others cannot see it). Very refined and noble, sometimes the swan is mistaken as detached. This however, is not the case. The swan is a lover, and can prove to be quite passionate in relationships. That "coolness" comes from the swan's understanding of composure. They’re natural aristocrats. They can be exacting in details, and have specific ideas about how things should be done. If you want someone who is perceptive, organized and extremely tasteful, get a swan’s perspective.

And the Nobel Peace Prize that year was won by

PEACE
American Friends Service Committee
Work: Pacifism and relief work

Nobel Laureates: These organizations were the twin service committees of the Society of Friends (Quakers), founded in the 18th century in England by George Fox. Members refuse to bear arms. Both organizations worked tirelessly during the world wars to help POWs and civilian war victims. Often called traitors during W.W.I for their refusal to defend their countries, the groups provided alternative service for conscientious objectors. Helping POWs and political prisoners around the globe, the U.S. committee also aided Japanese-Americans during their incarceration in inland concentration camps. They provided similar services later in Korea, Hungary, and Vietnam.

Carlton defeated Essendon 13.8 (86) to 11.19 (85) in front of a crowd of 85,815 people
So there you have a general "mish mash" of the year in which I was born - thank you to Lynne for inspiring me to indulge myself and do some research.  I thoroughly enjoyed doing it and finding things out.

There really isn't much to say apart from come September you best all be ready to sing to me:

Love and hugs and thanks for indulging me.

Linda.
